Tropocollagen therapy in orthopedics and traumatology at the First Surgical Hospital "Brass" in Ivano-Frankivsk

In modern medicine, innovative methods play a key role in improving the quality of patient treatment. The first surgical hospital "Brass" in Ivano-Frankivsk actively implements the latest approaches, among which tropocollagen therapy occupies a special place in orthopedics and traumatology. This method of treatment significantly accelerates tissue recovery after injuries and surgical interventions, which makes it an indispensable tool in the work of our specialists.

What is tropocollagen therapy?

Tropocollagen therapy is a treatment method based on the use of tropocollagen to stimulate the natural processes of regeneration and restoration of connective tissue. Tropocollagen is the main form of collagen, consisting of three polypeptide chains that form a helical structure. This protein is a key component of connective tissue, ensuring its strength and elasticity.

Advantages of tropocollagen therapy in orthopedics and traumatology

1. Accelerated healing of injuries. The use of tropocollagen promotes faster recovery of damaged tissues, in particular joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles. This allows patients to quickly return to an active lifestyle.
2. Reduction of inflammation. Tropocollagen therapy helps reduce inflammatory processes in damaged tissues, which helps reduce pain and discomfort.
3. Improvement of functionality. After treatment with tropocollagen, there is a significant improvement in the functionality of joints and muscles, which is especially important for patients who play sports or lead an active lifestyle.
4. Minimal risk of side effects. Since tropocollagen is a natural component of the body, the risk of allergic reactions or other side effects is minimal.

Application of tropocollagen therapy in the First Surgical Hospital "Brass"

"Brass" Hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk actively works with tropocollagen therapy in orthopedics and traumatology. Our specialists use this technique to treat various injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Main areas of application:

• Treatment of the consequences of military injuries. Surgeons in Ivano-Frankivsk work with all types of consequences of military injuries.
• Treatment of sports injuries. Tropocollagen therapy helps to recover faster after sprains, ligament tears and other sports injuries.
• Rehabilitation after surgical interventions. The technique promotes faster healing of surgical wounds and restoration of functionality of the operated areas.
• Therapy of degenerative diseases. The use of tropocollagen is effective in the treatment of arthrosis, osteochondrosis and other degenerative changes in joints and cartilage.

Tropocollagen therapy in orthopedics and traumatology is an innovative approach that allows to significantly improve the results of treatment and rehabilitation of patients. The first surgical hospital "Brass" in Ivano-Frankivsk is one of the leaders in the implementation of this technique, providing its patients with high-quality medical care and quick recovery after injuries and surgical interventions.

The use of the Ilizarov apparatus in modern practice: treatment of the consequences of military injuries in the "Brass" hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk

What is the Ilizarov apparatus?

The external fixation device is a compression-distraction device used for rigid bone fixation. For this, special rods or spokes of different diameters are used, fixed on the outside of the structure, more often in the form of rings or oblong beams.

The uniqueness of the technique: treatment with the Ilizarov apparatus in Ivano-Frankivsk

Ilizarov's apparatus, known since the 70s of the last century, is used by traumatologists in Ukraine mostly only for fixation of bones in case of fractures. The use of the device as a fixed static means is only 10-15% of its capabilities. In orthopedics, it did not gain much popularity due to subjective factors.
However, in the "BRASS" surgical hospital, this method is widely used as an effective way of treating the consequences of injuries and in the treatment of congenital and acquired diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
Ilizarov's apparatus is widely used in the dynamic functional treatment of complex pathologies of the musculoskeletal system.

Thanks to him, we can treat incomplete and improperly fused fractures in Ivano-Frankivsk, treat false joints, multi-component limb deformities, etc.
During the treatment, the function of the joints is preserved, and patients can start loading the limb already 2-3 days after the operation.
The method is used for both congenital and acquired pathologies, and the age of patients varies from 4 to 90 years.

To date, in the conditions of war, the number of consequences of military injuries, which require the intervention of orthopedic surgeons and traumatologists, has increased significantly. Therefore, this Ilizarov method is especially relevant now.
The possibilities of this method are unique. To date, nothing better has been invented in the world. There are such pathological conditions when, apart from this method, it is impossible to cure them. And it is thanks to him that we can perform extremely complex operations on limbs in Ivano-Frankivsk.

Possibilities of the method

The use of the Ilizarov apparatus in traumatology at the "Brass" hospital:
• treatment of complex fractures of long bones of limbs (open, fragmentary, gunshot, infected);
• treatment of peri-articular and intra-articular fractures in the area of large joints (knee, ankle joint (fractures of bones, pilon), shoulder, elbow and carpal joints).

Application of the Ilizarov apparatus in orthopedics:
• treatment of defects, deformations, shortening of limbs;
• treatment of osteomyelitis;
• treatment of false joints and delayed fusion;
• treatment for deforming arthrosis of the knee joint (gonarthrosis), as an alternative to an artificial joint.

Treatment of post-traumatic deformations (fractures that have not fused properly).

Application of the Ilizarov apparatus in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery.
• correction of leg curvature (varus O-shaped and valgus X-shaped);
• increasing human growth by lengthening the legs.

Advantages of the method over other interventions

1. The patient walks fully with full weight on the leg from the first days after the operation.
2. An important factor is that during the treatment the joints are fully functional (there is no need to fix them, as with other methods).
3. If an osteotomy is performed - crossing the bone, then it is done through small incisions from 0.5 cm (on the lower leg) to 3 cm (on the thigh). The operation is very gentle and minimally traumatic (without damage to small blood vessels and muscles).
4. The needles of the device practically do not leave traces on the skin, but this depends on the individual characteristics of the patient and his skin.
5. Repeated operation is not required, hence additional injury (to remove the metal structure during its use).

The duration of treatment using the Ilizarov method of external fixation in the "Brass" hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk

The duration of fixation in the device is determined by the doctor. The time of using the device depends on the features of the patient's body, the complexity of the injury, the goal and speed of healing (fusion, achieving the correct shape of the bone), and the speed of fusion, in turn, depends on the load on the limb (that is, on the patient himself).
On average, using the device for maximum results is necessary for 2-3 months. For example, around the world, the treatment of a tibia bone fracture is 4 - 6 months, but with the help of this method, this period is reduced by 1.5 - 2 times.
When lengthening a limb, you need to "wear" the device for 1 month for every 1 - 1.5 cm of lengthening.

How is the external fixation device removed?

Removal of the external fixation device in adult and pediatric practice is an outpatient procedure and, more often, does not require the use of sedatives or anesthesia.

1. Remember the drinking regime and a balanced diet.
In addition to coffee, tea or other warm drinks, do not forget to drink plain water at room temperature. It is necessary for normal thermoregulation, all internal processes in the body, improves the condition of the skin, hair, nails, relieves stress. A balanced diet rich in vitamins and microelements has a similar effect. Provided you eat healthy and nutritious food with a balance of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates, you will always feel an influx of energy, problem-free digestion, and improved physical and mental health.

2. Be sure to get enough sleep!
Getting a healthy 7-9 hours of sleep actually determines how you will spend your day: tired and irritable or energized and in a good mood. If you go to bed on time, memory improves, hormonal balance and metabolism are normalized. Perhaps you have noticed that sometimes you want to eat only sweet or fast food during the day? Review your regime - the reason may be lack of sleep.

3. Engage in physical activity
It is not necessary to buy a gym membership right away. You can start with active walks, sign up for classes in dance, yoga, swimming, tennis, football, basketball, etc. Choose a sport to your liking and try not to miss training. Believe me, very soon your body will get used to physical activity, and it will improve your mood and strengthen your immunity.
4. Avoid stress
We know it only sounds simple. Especially in the current conditions. But it is stress that often becomes the cause or catalyst of serious diseases. In addition, it negatively affects the state of the entire organism and can have consequences even after a long time after a stressful situation.

5. Give up bad habits.
Alcohol negatively affects the work of the central nervous system, in particular the brain. Smoking causes diseases of the respiratory tract, oncological and cardiovascular diseases. Eradicating a habit formed over the years is very difficult. So try to replace it with something more useful first

Take care and don't get sick!
