Special medical operations forces


Ukraine's First Volunteer Surgical Hospital "Brass" was created in Ivano-Frankivsk in the first days of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war.


The goal of the initiative is to provide free assistance to Defenders and internally displaced persons who have suffered injuries and are in need of medical assistance.


Medical services


Surgical department includes orthopedic traumatology, physical and psychological rehabilitation.

Operative treatment for:
- Unfused bone fractures
- Improperly fused bone fractures
- Multicomponent acquired and congenital bone deformities
- Pseudarthrosis
- Bone defects
- Shortening of limbs
- Post-traumatic and other contractures of large joints
- Valgus, hammer-like and other deformities of the fingers.

Arthroscopic operations: meniscectomy, debridement.

Metalloosteosynthesis and removal of metal structures.

Surgery of soft tissues.

Pain relief: in the neck, shoulder blades, chest, lower back, sacrum, coccyx, buttocks; in the upper and lower extremities (epicondylitis, styloiditis, heel spurs, etc.)

Treatment of diseases and consequences of spine injuries (osteochondrosis, spondyloarthrosis, scoliosis, disc herniations and others) using the method of intraosseous and intratissue electrical stimulation.

Rehabilitation after operations, injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Physical therapy after operations, injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Mechanotherapy after operations, injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

All types of massage.
Defenders of Ukraine are treated here: Azov, National Guard of Ukraine, State Emergency Service, National Police, Intelligence Directorate, as well as fighters of the foreign international legion.

About 397 Defenders get the integrated treatment, which includes a full cycle of physical and psychological rehabilitation.

Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, 5,540 people have received FREE medical/psychological care at Brass Hospital.

Hundreds of doctors, volunteers and organizations throughout Ukraine and Europe were united around the mission of charity project "The First Volunteer Surgical Hospital".

“Brass” Hospital is the winner of the all-Ukrainian national competition "Charity Ukraine 2022. Charity in defense of the Independence of Ukraine" in the nomination "Charity of medium and small business".

Other volunteer activities

  • Sewing ammunition
The brigade sewed 2,000 units for body armor, 1,000 cots, 300 tourniquets and 200 complete first-aid kits.

  • Assistance to public organizations
The hospital provided assistance to the public organizations "Angels of Taira", "Angels of Azov" and dozens of other institutions and hospitals.

  • Cooperation
Cooperation has been established with local hospitals, shelters, volunteer and charitable organizations and almost all structures that care for soldiers, veterans, internally displaced persons, families of fallen defenders, etc. The hospital started working together with the All-Ukrainian Center for Prosthetics "Supermen".
