About The First Voluntary Surgical Hospital
The First Voluntary Surgical Hospital (FVSH) was established in Ivano-Frankivsk in the first days of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
According to statistics, every third wound during hostilities is mine-explosive injuries, gunshot and shrapnel injuries of limbs.
In connection with the high need for treating atypical injuries, orthopedic traumatology has become a vital specialty of the medical institution.

The First Voluntary Surgical Hospital charitable facility has united the majority of doctors, volunteers, and organizations from Ukraine and around Europe.
Thanks to the high professional level of the entire team, First Voluntary Surgical Hospital became a nominee of the prestigious European Health Leadership Awards 2022 (Austria).
The goal of the initiative is to provide free assistance to soldiers and internally displaced persons who are wounded, injured, and in need of medical assistance.
Key types of operations that are considered in the medical institution:
Treatment of the consequences of bullet wounds, surgical treatment of bone fractures (osteosynthesis), arthroscopic operations on the knee joint (removal of fragments after mine-explosive injuries), as well as neurosurgery of peripheral nerves, scar plastic surgery, preparation for prosthetics after limb loss.

Our surgeons have at their disposal the exclusive VSI HoloMedicine® device from apoQlar, a medical-certified software platform (3D glasses) that uses Microsoft HoloLens 2 hardware to transform medical images and clinical workflows into a three-dimensional augmented reality environment.

The symbol of the hospital is an ant.
These insects are born “professional” surgeons who are able to treat the feet of other “fellows” who have suffered injuries after being attacked by their enemy termites. Also, ants pull out the wounded from the “battlefield”.
